TD1. October 15.
Balance of Payments
TD 2
TD2. October 22. Indicators of Specialization.
The original
files for the exercises are
worldtrad.xls,
tradbal.xls,
currac.xls,
exo_L3.xls. I have
sligthly modified one of them to facilitate your exploration of
indicators:
exo_L3_modif.xls.
Take a look to
the article cited in the Exercise 2.5. The paper is
here.
TD 3
Note about
Balassa: In the handouts, I put for PDR 0,063/ 0,0114 = 555.
Actually, it is 5,526. I just wanted to save some space in the
table to avoid writing: 100*(0,0006336/0,00011413)=555 (555 after
rounding). The value could be 5,5263 or 552 (or 5.56 or 5.52). In
the first case the threshold for comparative advantage is 1, and
in the second is 100. Just focus on the Excel file, where
formulas are right, and rounding is already programmed (and the
threshold is 100).
TD3. October
